Trade Estates Receives International Recognition from EPRA at the 2026 sBPR Awards
Gold Award for the Company in Its First Participation in the ESG Performance Assessment Process
Trade Estates REIC announces that it has been conferred a Gold Award at the 2026 Sustainability Best Practices Recommendations (“sBPR”) Awards of the European Public Real Estate Association (“EPRA”), in its first participation in the assessment process. This distinction confirms that the Company’s disclosure practices are aligned with the highest European standards governing the publication of ESG information.
EPRA serves as the institutional representative body of the European listed real estate sector, comprising a membership in excess of 280 companies with real estate assets valued at more than €890 billion. Pursuant to the sBPR, EPRA establishes the reference framework governing the transparent and comparable disclosure of sustainability information by listed real estate companies, assessing member companies against sixteen environmental indicators, twelve social and corporate governance indicators, and ten overarching recommendations concerning the quality of disclosure. The Gold Award is conferred upon companies achieving a score in excess of 85%.
The significance of this distinction is further underscored by the fact that, among 160 total nominations and twelve companies participating for the first time in the 2026 assessment, the Company was conferred the Gold Award directly in its first participation, without following the incremental progression ordinarily observed among newly participating companies.
The Company was the subject of specific mention in EPRA’s 2026 Awards Report. Mr. Dominique Moerenhout, Chief Executive Officer of EPRA, stated the following: “Trade Estates is a case in point that a newcomer can meet the framework’s expectations within a single cycle.”
The Company’s performance is reflective of the systematic integration of corporate governance, environmental management and transparency principles within its operations, as evidenced, inter alia, by the following:
- A robust corporate governance framework, comprising independent representation on the Board of Directors, an Audit Committee, and dedicated Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management and Internal Audit functions
- A reduction of approximately 30% in total greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 & 2) and in overall carbon intensity, relative to the corresponding figures for 2024
- An increase in the proportion of electricity sourced from renewable sources, from 14.9% to 25.3%, was achieved through investment in photovoltaic infrastructure and sustainable energy management practices
- A 5% reduction in electricity consumption on a like-for-like basis, together with a 6% improvement in overall energy intensity
- Women representing 48% of the Company’s workforce and 33% of its Board of Directors
Mr. Dimitris Papoulis, Chief Executive Officer of Trade Estates, stated: “This international recognition from EPRA constitutes a significant milestone for Trade Estates. The conferral of the Gold Award, already in our first participation within the EPRA framework, confirms that transparency, reliable market communication and continuous improvement are integral to both our operations and our investment strategy. It further evidences the broader ESG commitments underpinning the Company’s strategic presence in Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria.”
The Company remains committed to the continued enhancement of the quality of its data and disclosures, through the adoption of best practices designed to provide investors and other stakeholders with reliable, complete and comparable information.
